Love Poems of February # 8 of 14February 19, 2013
Here’s the 8th of 14 new poems that have something to do with love that I plan to write during February.
Call it NaLoPoMo National Love Poem Month.
I had a prompt in mind (to mine some Bukowski lines for insipiration, but I wound up writing something else instead.
Several poets may be participating in writing a poem a day or every other day in February. Join us and write some poems. Post a link to your love poems here at this Facebook page: Randomly Accessed Poetics which is a William James Lindberg project.
Love at First
By Christopher J. Jarmick
the fantasy of the thing–
the beginnings of a passionate affair
Has no memory.
It is perfect.
The imperfections, flaws, annoyances
and the awkwardness, differences
Just as ‘they were meant to be’
Bridges are begun because of Love.
Everything is easy to start for lovers
Possibilities are endless.
Dreams are in Technicolor complete with
lush orchestral swells.
Connections real, imagined and
Exaggerated all make sense
And verify: ‘this is the one’.
Two equals one.
is so very, very natural, so easy
But love that lasts
is exactly the sort of hard work
Love at first
never seems to be.
But beat-up, exhausted, discouraged,
Slightly bitter, tired
we long for a tender touch
and someone who despite all
still says with sincerity
and little logic
I Love You.
