NaPoWriMo National Poetry Writing Month Day 31 ! ! ! NaPoWriMo Wrap Up for Thursday May 1, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014

April 30, 2014

“Poetry is a way of taking life by the throat.”
Robert Frost

“You should always be trying to write a poem you are unable to write, a poem you lack the technique, the language, the courage to achieve. Otherwise you’re merely imitating yourself, going nowhere, because that’s always easiest.”
John Berryman

“Perhaps the truth depends on a walk around the lake.”
Wallace Stevens

THAT’S IT! It’s a wrap! NaPoWriMo 2014 is over, done, finished, and completed. Of course, you might now be addicted and formed a habit of writing every day. Good. Please continue to do so. You might wish there were prompts and challenges. . . well there are plenty all over the web.. just look at what other poets and folks have posted in terms of prompts and challenges for 2014 or 2013 or earlier than that. There are plenty of prompts and challenges out there to push and challenge yourself if you need them.

And everything you wrote the last 30 days is ready to revised, edited and re-written and perhaps a few should be submitted to journals or contests or magazines.

I hope you found NaPoWriMo invigorating and inspiring.

The Prompt for Wednesday April 30th something old, something borrowed, something blue suggested you use some lines from a few poems you wrote during the last 30 days and compose some new lines with one line having something blue in it.

Here’s what I wrote for Prompt 30 . . .

Poem Starter 1430
By Christopher J. Jarmick

I’m sure only that ignorance is misery’s co-conspirator
And if I pretend not to notice the sky is falling, it can’t possibly hurt me.

(line borrowed from my translation poem and new line with something blue makes up this Poem Starter)

Rose Harlequin Soul
By Christopher J. Jarmick

Just beneath the mischievous pranks,
is the need for affection.
The trickster amuses the unsuspecting audience
but so little effort is required, boredom sets in.
Despite what the devil convince you is true
My eyes, the sky remain blue
Change is as unstoppable
as the seasons.
Seeds of good are planted
and with any luck we’ll stay together to see them bloom.

(I used lines from the poem I wrote for the Harlequin Prompt, the translation poem, and the movie reference poem for my old and borrowed lines).

Keep writing!!!

The root of the word Poetry is from the Greek ποιέω (poieō), “‘I
make’”). , poiesis, meaning a “making” or ‘creation’

Poetry is Everything
